The Visionaries director Emily McDonald has captured the inspirational story of Marcus Rashford’s background and upbringing in the film ‘Play New’ for Nike. Shot in Manchester, the film gives us photographic glimpses into his friends, family, and the surroundings that enabled him to pursue and find passion in the sport.
Emily went into detail about the creative process, explaining, “We went to Manchester to meet a national hero for Nike, and had a lot of fun working alongside RawTape AKA Rory Soprano who dashed about like a mad man with a VHS camera for the day. Check his work out.”
As well as the candid visuals of Manchester, Emily has focused on the future of football: young hopefuls and individuals still shaping their interests, whom Marcus believes may be able to find and develop something special in the sport.
Emily says, “If there were more people using their status for good like Marcus then the world would be a much better place.”
