Robert Wilkins is known for his heartfelt, emotional storytelling, with strong cinematic visuals. Starting in documentary he cherishes the little details that make us human. His work has been awarded by Cannes Lions, D&AD, Creative Circle, British Arrows and Kinsale Sharks. Via experimentation and with leading SFX companies, Robert has also developed an in-depth knowledge of technical camera work, using it always in service of the narrative. This can be seen in his 2023 campaigns for eBay, where Robert immerses the viewer into the up close and personal – ‘Built Different’ – worlds of DIY motoring enthusiasts. For Waitrose ‘Taste’ he honed that craft to perfection with food and alongside animals on the farm. Sound design often features heavily in Robert’s work, grounding it and enhancing connection. Over the past ten years in the industry Robert has directed major campaigns for brands including Guinness, eBay, BBC, Waitrose, Tesco, Oppo, British Airways, Amazon, and Sony. His important 2022 advert for UK suicide prevention charity CALM screened during the finals of the men’s football World Cup. It puts viewers inside the mind of modern footballing hero Declan Rice as he battles ‘Invisible Opponents’ alone, using post VFX and sound to powerful effect.
