Remy Cayuela is a French/American director with a taste for fine comedy and cinematic visuals. Following the success of his graduation film ‘The deafgame’ on the festival circuit, Remy went on to direct music videos for the likes of Naive New Beaters, Wilkinson, Duke Dumont, Capital Cities, Jax Jones, among others.
He won multiple international festivals and awards (UKMVA, Gold at the YDA Cannes festival) and was screened at prestigious festivals such as SXSW. His video for Wilkinson hit 82 Million views on YouTube and his video for grammy award winner Duke Dumont “I got u” became a viral hit with over 340 Million views. The video went on to win VEVO award.
His aptitude to come up with strong concepts, using a mix of comedy and storytelling, inevitably steered him towards directing commercials internationally for the likes of clients like BEATS, HEINEKEN, GILLETTE, McDONALD'S, BELVITA, RENAULT, CITROËN, LU, PHILIPS, SOCIETE GENERALE, EUROMILLIONS, MEETIC, CARREFOUR, HANES, NIVEA MEN, TRAVELZOO, YOUNITED, VANARAMA, etc. In 2023 he directed McDonald’s brand film for 9 countries of the Middle East region following the Qatar World Cup. And in 2024 he directed over 15 commercial spots worldwide.
Throughout his commercial work Remy has always demonstrated spot on casting with the most precise and subtle comedy performances from all type of actors: adults, kids, celebrities, professional actors, amateurs, and even animals (mostly dogs which he speaks fluently). His visual language and experience enabled him to navigate a wide range of genre with ease and a distinct point of view, always keeping an eye to details.
Based between Paris, London and Los Angeles, Remy loves to team up with creative teams and clients to make the most out of an idea. Known for his visual cinematic style, Remy is also a full on writer/director who loves working with dialogs. When he’s not on set directing commercials, he develops fiction, writes and shoots more. He’s directed multiple comedy shortfilms and gathered numerous awards on the international film festival circuit, attracting the attention of tv channels such as Canal+ who bought his lastest short. His newest comedy short “This is not a rom com” will start summer 2024 on the festival circuit. He’s also developing 3 feature film projects across US and European markets.
